05 Sep Sun. Sept. 29th: 240 Strings FREE Community Concert
Sunday, September 29th
Mechanics’ Hall, 519 Congress St.
2:00 PM in the Ballroom
EVENT DETAILS
Resident musicians of 240 Strings will perform on Sunday, September 29 at Mechanics’ Hall (519 Congress St, Portland). The concert is at 2pm and is free (donations are always appreciated). The program includes the Portland premiere of “Syzygy” by Marianna Filippi, written in 2019 specifically for the Portland Piano Trio. The Portland Piano Trio are also the resident musicians of the nonprofit 240 Strings: Pianist Anastasia Antonacos, violinist Tracey Jasas-Hardel and cellist Wayne Smith. What do Amy Beach, Dmitri Shostakovich and Marianna Filippi all have in common? The answer lies with how these three very different composers aligned themselves with the music they created. Join us for performances of:
Marianna Filippi “Syzygy” *Portland Premiere*
Amy Beach Trio, Op. 150
Dmitri Shostakovich Trio in E minor, Op. 67
240 Strings builds community among Portland youth by making music more accessible through subsidized music lessons, chamber music workshops, and affordable family concerts.
