Adele Ngoy
Join us for a virtual visit to Adele Ngoy’s studio.
Adele Ngoy is a fashion designer by profession. She can create high fashion from start to finish, beginning with design, then pattern-making, through sewing and top-quality finish work. She is best known in Portland as the owner of Antoine’s Tailor Shop and Formal Wear, where she and her team sell formal wear and provide custom design and alterations services, and as the founder of Women United Around the World, a nonprofit that has provided support services to immigrant women for the past 10 years. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, her home country, Adele owned a haute couture business and taught at the design college in Kinshasa. She arrived in Portland as a refugee 20 years ago after fleeing the civil war in DRC. She arrived here as a single mother with three young children, with no English and no resources. It has been a long and difficult journey but Adele is proud and happy to call Portland her home!
