For Eventbrite registered guests: As we are expecting a full house, we are asking that registered guests arrive at 6:30 when the doors open to claim their seats. A limited amount of sitting and standing room may be available at the time of the event once registered guests are seated. Latecomers will not be guaranteed seating as this a free community event. ORIGINAL TEXT: Join us in the Ballroom for Lily King’s Book Launch for Writers & Lovers!  This program is co-presented with Print: A Bookstore and Maine Writers & Publishers AllianceFREE but registration through Eventbrite is highly recommended.  All are welcome.

Following the breakout success of her critically acclaimed and award-winning novel Euphoria, Lily King returns with an unforgettable portrait of an artist as a young woman. Writers & Lovers follows Casey—a smart and achingly vulnerable protagonist—in the last days of a long youth, a time when every element of her life comes to a crisis. Written with King’s trademark humor, heart, and intelligence, Writers & Lovers is a transfixing novel that explores the terrifying and exhilarating leap between the end of one phase of life and the beginning of another.

MECHANICS’ HALL PRESENTS is a series of conversations, discussions, and readings rooted in the history of our founders, the Maine Charitable Mechanic Association. The association was dedicated to the diffusion of useful knowledge as a means to enlighten, support and educate its members. It was also designed to keep them “out of trouble”. Today, Mechanics’ Hall collaborates with organizations and individuals who share a passion for thoughtful discussion, critical thinking and creative impact. And we’re not opposed to a bit of trouble making.
