Makers at the Hall

Last Wednesday of the month at 7pm

January thru May & September thru November

Makers at the Hall is a series of talks, panel discussions and lectures that take place at Mechanics’ Hall in Portland, Maine – the historic home of the Maine Charitable Mechanic Association.

Inspired by these original makers and mechanical artists, this curated program invites artists, artisans and tradespeople – local Maine leaders in craft and culture, to discuss their work and give audiences a behind the scenes look at their creative process.

Now in its fifth year, previous guests have included light and sculpture artist Pandora LaCasse, violin maker Jonathan Cooper Luthier, print maker Pilar Nadal of Pickwick Press, furniture designer Doug Green, Nick and David Wallace of Wallace Pipe Organs, many more.

Talks are FREE for members or $8 general admission. Virtual registration information will be made available in the fall.

Tandem Glass. September 2020 speakers.

This program is currently on summer hiatus. We will return in the fall with virtual talks due to precautionary health measures. Please note that the postponed Joe Lendway and Ebeneezer Akakpo talks from spring 2020 will hopefully be rescheduled for the 2021 season. Ayumi Horie’s spring talk has been rescheduled to this fall while Balzar Clockworks has moved to 2021. Please refer to the schedule below for the exact changes to the rest of the 2020 season.
