18 Dec Thu. Jan. 23rd: Recognizing & Mitigating Flood Risk

Thursday, January 23rd

Mechanics’ Hall, 519 Congress St.

12:00 – 1:30 PM in the Ballroom

EVENT DETAILS

Join us for our inaugural program in this series: Recognizing and Mitigating Flood Risk with Jim Nadeau.

Nadeau will present basic concepts and disconnects of the flood program: floods impact on values, lack of awareness of around flooding, the political and regulatory obstacles, how structures are currently rated versus going to be rated in the future, and the types of flood risk not mapped. City staff will join and discuss current efforts in planning.

THE MECHANICS OF OUR BUILT ENVIRONMENT
In partnership with the Portland Society for Architecture, Mechanics’ Hall will host a series of eight, free, lunchtime forums on current planning initiatives that impact the built environment. The program is designed for professionals working in the field to create fluency around policy, planning, and design while encouraging frequent participation in conversations that matter.

Please register with PSA here. This is a free and public event presented by Portland Society for Architecture and Mechanics’ Hall. Elevator access to third floor ballroom. Featured photo by Corey Templeton.
