EVENT DETAILS
The exhibition “Spiritus Ex Machina: New Work by Gregg Harper” will be on view in the Chalkboard Gallery October 1 – 31, 2018. This series of artworks focus on the “machinations” of popular spiritualism at the site of Portland’s 203 year-old “mechanics” organization. Each work is “combinatorial” and may include painting, drawing and photography with found objects, ephemera, textiles and some thread work. The exhibition will feature both “The Philosopher’s Game” and “The Elder’s Puzzle”, each of which invite viewer participation.
The artist will be present during the month of October for special gallery hours Fridays, 4-7pm and Saturdays and Sundays, 1-4pm (except Saturday, 10/27 will be 2-5pm). Gallery admission is free and most of the artworks will be available for sale. Other times to see the show are during Mechanics’ Hall library hours.
10/5 Reception is FREE and open to the public. 5:00-8:00PM. Elevator access to second floor gallery.
