EVENT DETAILS

Donny MacVane was born on Long Island, Maine, just prior to the Great Depression. He married a lovely girl from away, who loved the island and they had two boys and two girls. He spent a lifetime as a lobster man and experienced many changes in the business, some good, some not so good. When he stopped fishing at age 90, he returned to writing his novel, which he had started 47 years earlier. It was his mother who had always encouraged him to try new things. She had passed away before he wrote anything, but she would be proud he began writing and, though it took awhile, that he didn’t give up. Donny will read from his first book, Scuttlebutt.

FREE and open to the public. 12:00-1:00PM.  Elevator access to second floor library.
