Ever wanted to join a writers’ group, but weren’t sure what to expect? Do you love getting sneak-peeks of works-in-progress? We have the event for you! The Casco Bay Writers’ Project at Mechanics’ Hall presents an Evening of New Work: join us on Wednesday, December 15th from 6:00-7:30pm in the Library for an exciting evening of readings and discussion.

The Casco Bay Writers’ Project meets every Thursday from 11am-1pm in the Boardroom! Led by John Brogan and Susan T. Landry, this group believes that each person is interesting and has a story to tell. New members are always welcome!

With members ranging in experience, including seasoned veterans, published writers, and writers who are just beginning to share their work, the Writers’ Project invites everyone to be part of the conversation. And with a wide diversity of the writing styles — including memoir; history-based creative nonfiction; short tales of crimes, passion, and other dark impulses; poetry; adventure stories – there is sure to be something for everyone.

Head to Eventbrite (click here!) to reserve your spot in advance, as seats are limited! Attendance is free to Mechanics’ Hall Members, and $10 suggested donation for non-members.

Please note our in-person Covid safety policies: To ensure the safety of our staff, guests, and community, and under the direction of our Board, Mechanics’ Hall requires proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (or an appropriately time-stamped negative COVID-19 test) for all persons attending our events until further notice. All persons must masked for the duration of their time in the Hall, regardless of vaccination status in accordance with our current Masking Policies. This decision was made to help keep our community safe and our doors open.

All attendees must either:

  • Present a physical copy or a photo of their COVID-19 vaccine card along with a valid photo ID (state, government, or school ID); or
  • Provide a time-stamped printout, photo, or email of a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of the event or a negative Rapid Antigen Test taken within 36 hours of the event, along with a valid photo ID (state, government, or school ID).
