About the Illustration Institute’s Artist Residency Program:

The mission of the Marilyn Faison Artist Residency is to provide artists an opportunity to create in relative seclusion on Peaks Island, just off the coast of Portland, Maine. Our goal is to introduce these nationally recognized artists to a wide and diverse population through lectures and workshops during their stay on Peaks Island.

We’re looking forward to our sixth inspiring summer with over 16 residents each season (with the exception of 2020). Each year’s diverse group of artists and their unique cultural perspectives will provide programming for both children and adults. Our artists continually provide a rich cultural array of interests and expertise bringing their particular passion directly to audience members in our community…a rare opportunity indeed.
