The gendered body is a body that is always negotiating social, cultural, and political expectations.

It is a body whose experience within these contexts may feel wholly separate or separated from the life of the emotions, from whole personhood. In tether & lung and Blue Memento, Kimberly Ann Priest and Robert Carr examine, with unflinching precision, the complicated suffering of the emotional life when bodies are pressured by relationships, norms, and abuses. In their poetry, these trappings are experienced by all—those who conform to expectations and those who do not, those who are willing to feel and find freedom, and those who remain constrained by their gendered body.

Cello solos will be played at interludes to provide a therapeutic aura.
