The Book Club tackles a very different novel, “The Yellow Birds” by Kevin Powers. Right from the first line, “The war tried to kill us in the spring” you know this will be an intense look at young soldiers trying to protect themselves and the Iraqi city of Al Tafar. Their friendship and the effects of war on their families at home highlights the cost of any war. After the discussion, we will be picking the next 4 or 5 books so bring your ideas!
